Thought Process

Being as Member Expert Committee of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India Atul Yadvanshi has always stood by practitioners of indigenous folk art forms and strongly advocated for removing the eligibility of Graduation in availing the Senior/Junior Fellowship to them. This proposal was accepted by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Similarly he has been actively advocating the measures as how to improve the conditions of fellow folk art practitioners with Senior Officials, Politicians and various Governmental, Non-governmental and Autonomous Organizations to give Top-Priority to the Folk Artists and their Art Forms. Despite of being in pathetic condition Folk Arts can also be understood as:

  • Intangible Cultural Heritage of India - Creation of beautiful "Human Treasures."
  • Rhythmic expression of emotions which ruled this land for centuries and still...
  • Indian films inherited its structure from Nautanki i.e. a story telling format with songs in between.
  • A group of person who exposed the common people to the richness of Indian Culture and its deep roots towards aspiring for a better world.

He clearly believes that as a development organization with a cultural mandate, we (cultural institutions) should recognize that culture must no longer be the 'Missing Pillar' of development. We must play an active role in Advocating for culture to given greater consideration in development Planning and Implementation, and for Artists and Practitioners to be part of this dialogue.

He has traveled far and wide across the states interacting with Legends & Practitioners and has concluded that if Folk Art is bundled with the latest presentation techniques it will take over the world cultural space.

Atul Yadvanshi is a Folk Art Practitioner- Artist, Director, Researcher and Cultural Volunteer Committed to the cause of Traditional Folk Art Forms. For him, India's vibrant Heritage of Folk's music, rhythms, melodies are the real identity of our country and they shall not die. My sole Mission "Protect Our Folk Arts Before Its Too Late" has made a tremendous impact among Cultural Policy Makers & Officials. Yadvanshi's journey in the field of traditional Folk Art over two decades has been full of energy, experimentation, learning and innovation and still has eager for the same with great sprit and more vigor in years to come.

Currently underway forming a Nationwide Network of Folk Artist aimed at conducting Capacity Building Workshop, Training to enhance and upgrade the knowledge of Folk Artists and capacitating them to avail the schemes of various Governmental & Non-Governmental organizations. He is also undertaking Advocacy with Government Departments for the betterment of his fellow Folk Artists of rural, distant and far-flung areas of our country. The activities include Capacity Building and Developing Charter/Basic Rights of Folk Artists who are carriers of Heritage, cultural values, traditions, beliefs and ethos. My effort is to enable them to develop their own priorities and Plans for action in a participatory manner.
